(memento mori)
Google Maps in Japanese
Memento Mori is a unique and immersive cocktail bar located in the heart of Tokyo, Japan. Shuzo Nagumo – a pioneering mixologist who previously opened bars in Tokyo specializing in shochu cocktails, tea cocktails, and culinary themed re-distillations – this time sets out to capture the essence of fruits, herbs, flowers and seeds just before they perish. He uses rose petals in a fizz, Peruvian huacatay with ice wine, and Brazilian jambu in a gimlet, but the plant that takes center stage is cacao.
One of the defining features of Memento Mori is its stunning interior design. The bar is dimly lit, with flickering candles casting shadows across the walls, and plush, velvet chairs creating a cozy atmosphere. Skulls and other macabre decorations adorn the walls, creating a distinctly eerie vibe. The bar’s staff also dress in black and white attire, adding to the bar’s unique aesthetic.
In addition to its striking design, Memento Mori is known for its exceptional cocktails. The bar offers a range of inventive drinks, all of which are made with the finest ingredients and served with meticulous attention to detail. The bartender at Memento Mori are true artists, and every cocktail is a work of art in its own right. The menu features a mix of classic and contemporary drinks, as well as a selection of house specialties that are sure to impress even the most discerning cocktail connoisseur.
Bee’s Knees is ranked number 41 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022.
