The Planetaria Yokohama is a part of Konica Minolta Planetaria, a brand-new theater complex, that opened in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Nagoya in 2018. It is the third direct management theater of the Konica Minolta Planetarium brand, which is renowned for its state-of-the-art projection systems and cutting-edge technology. PLANETARIA is Japan’s first fulldome theater complex, consisting of two dome theaters, a VR attraction, a cafe, and a shop. The Planetaria Yokohama is located in the Minato Mirai 21 district of Yokohama, Japan.
The Planetaria Yokohama features two dome theaters: the Sky Theater and the Super High Vision Theater. The Sky Theater has a diameter of 27 meters and can accommodate up to 353 people. It is equipped with a 4K laser projection system that provides a stunningly clear image. The Super High Vision Theater, on the other hand, has a diameter of 16 meters and can accommodate up to 123 people. It is equipped with an 8K projection system, which is currently the highest resolution available for digital projectors.
In addition to the two dome theaters, the Planetaria Yokohama also features a VR attraction called “Astro Station Yokohama.” This attraction allows visitors to experience a simulated journey through space using the latest VR technology. Visitors can also explore the cafe, which features a space-themed menu and a relaxing atmosphere. The shop offers a wide range of souvenirs and merchandise related to space and astronomy.
The Planetaria Yokohama regularly hosts a variety of shows and events related to astronomy, space exploration, and science. These shows are designed to educate and entertain visitors of all ages, and they use state-of-the-art projection systems to create immersive experiences. Some of the shows currently being offered at the Planetaria Yokohama include “Aurora Dream,” “The Sky of Ancient Egypt,” and “Our Solar System.”
